Jennifer Joseph bought her first bulldog as a show prospect in 1988, and by the time she had finished his AKC championship, she was hooked, not just on the breed, but on exhibiting at shows. Her interest in breeding bulldogs soon developed, and after a fairly lengthy search, she and her husband Jay found just the right show - quality foundation bitch, bought her and finished her championship. They bred their first litter in 1992.

Although they are not prolific breeders, on average limiting themselves to one or two litters a year, the Josephs’ emphasis on quality has earned recognition for both of them as members of the Bulldog Club of America’s Breeders Hall of Fame.

As breeder - owner - handler, Mrs. Joseph campaigned Champion Adamant Warlock to number one ranking in the breed in 2005. Sire of a number of specialty and all - breed Best In Show winners and top producers, “Angus” and his dam, Adamant Staypuft Marshmallow — also bred by the Josephs — are listed in the Bulldog Club of America’s Producers Hall of Fame along with Champion Adamant’s Bullyshine Paige, owned by the couple. Among Paige’s offspring is Champion Adamant Show And Tell, shown by Mrs. Joseph to multiple Best In Specialty Show wins.

Since joining the national breed club in the early 1990s, Mrs. Joseph has held a number of offices at division and national levels. As a board member, member and recent chairman of the BCA’s Health Committee, she helped initiate efforts to promote to fellow breeders the benefits of health testing for all bulldog breeding stock. In 2008, she concluded a term on the Board of Governors for the BCA’s Charitable Fund, a not - for - profit organization which supports research on bulldog health. She is also active in bulldog rescue.

The Josephs, who live in California, continue to breed occasionally and are members of the BCA’s Breeder Referral Network. In addition to her ongoing activities with BCA and rescue, Mrs. Joseph exhibits regularly at shows and, occasionally, teaches handling workshops. Her web site is at www.adamantbulldogs.com.
